Well, speaking from experience, I listen to what she has to say( keeping in mind that she has done similar or worse). I understand that there are times when she is right and knows things from experience and is just trying to help. Other times, when she is being especially demeaning, I chalk it up to her being Jealous. My granny is a horn dog from her own accounts, and hasn't gotten any in quite a while so, if someone else is, I think it gets to her. LOL, Once when she just walked into my room without knocking I told her i was masturbating!!! Grandmothers have a way of being intrusive so don't let it upset you. If she didn't love you, she wouldn't bother to caution you. She wants to protect you and she see's you doing reckless behavior so why don't you listen. That's what's rude. Say thank you Grandma, I know you mean well and I will try to do better. See, was that so hard. Grandma will calm down, stop ';ranting' and you'll have her off your back. A win-win situation.
You do not need to be rude to her or to anyone else. Say something like, ';Gram I appreciate your concern. In your time the things I do in the open were kept hidden. How many of your friends had premature babies the first time after they married? Your world was different than mine and we both need to appreciate that.';

I don't think this is SC...not the one I know....however, if your grandmother is still alive, be thankful, not judgemental....and more respectful [i.e., calling her an old biddy] - She is only concerned about your value set, and yes, may be minding your business but that's what grandmas and parents do - despite our ages.

To answer your question. I doubt if by grandmother was promiscuous, she was a young woman in the 1890s. However, if she had been I am sure she would have kept it very private and I would have never known.

Respect your elders. It is always do as I say not as I do.
It is more promiscuous these days. We (most of us) were too scared to do anything we shouldn't in case we became pregnant. We had more respect from the male population those days. There wasn't the pill, it didn't come out until 1960.
Your grandmother knows the score out there. She is scared something bad will happened, like STD or getting pregnant too young. She sees the news and all that is going on and she doesn't want you to fall into the trap.
I think you should be glad she cares enough to bother to tell you. She doesn't mean to rant and rave, but I expect you raise her anger by your nonchalant replies.
