The English Royals don't derive their income through the misrepresentation of Scripture, telling people to send them money.

Many of the Vatican's treasures weren't treasures when accumulated centuries ago. They were just paintings and sculpture by curernt artists whose works may or may not have survived the test of time. Many of teh church's works were donated and the donations were not intended to be sold, but to be kept by the church.





Today the church is a great museum of art the idea that the art should be delivered into the hands of the highest bidder is somehow repugnant to me.





We'd have sheikhs and drug dealers buying up all the good stuff.
Many ';treasures'; from the Vatican were sacked by Napolean. They do have a lot of art amongst other things which has historical, spiritual and I suppose also monetary value. The Catholic Church is the one single organization that has done more to aid people in humanitarian crises than any other organization. The Red Cross is just one example of an organization that began within the catholic church. Catholic charities make a significant difference in this world.

All these treasures are for everyone to see and the pope cannot sell Vatican art nor the Queen the crown jewels.


I would rather see the treasures as they are for all to see rather hidden away in private collections for centuries to come.





Money for the poor can be raised in many other ways.

If the Vatican's treasures are to glorify God, then that is what they should be used for. Remember the account of the woman with the expensive bottle of perfume that she broke in order to annoint our Lord's feet? They accused her also by saying she could have sold it and used the money to feed the poor. But Jesus rebuked them.

U don't even know the Half of it!!! A friend of mine Edmund j. Benedetti S.I. Specola Vaticana Citta Del Vaticano is the Chief Engineer for the Vatican. When he was here last supervising the building of the ';Papa Scope'; on Mt. Graham, came out to the house for a Birthday Party with what he said was a very ';Special Treat';!!! He brought a ';Slide Projector'; %26amp; ';Trays full of Slides'; that he was ';Allowed'; to take of several ';Vaults'; Filled with ';Treasure'; that he said the rest of the World has no Idea even Exists!!! He showed us ';Temperature controlled Vaults'; with nothing but Ancient Scrolls, Gold, Jewels, Paintings, Statues, Clothing etc. that the World has never seen!!! So, .....Like most, why are they ';Hidden';??? He couldn't answer that as he thought the World should know. But perhaps U know better than he %26amp; I. John
