Another rant and rave: were you severly disappointed in the poor officiating last night??

i thought umpires were trying to get rid of the ';the ball beating the runner to the base'; rules

ian kinsler was safe in his steal of second last night. but since the ball beat him there and tejada sold the tag (which he completely missed) kinsler was called out. next pitch sizemore slaps a single up the middle, kinsler should have scored. game over

later in the game. mclouth's great throw home and great scoop by russel martin. put the tag down after novarro's foot touched the base. technically safe, but the ball beat him home. game shouldve been over

im sad that umps still go by this mental rule..what do you think??Another rant and rave: were you severly disappointed in the poor officiating last night??
You really do make a good point but I am certain the umpires want to make the right call. Sometimes a play is so close that it is difficult to make the correct call when watching a replay several times. However, I do agree with you that the umpires tend to give added importance to the ball beating the runner to the base on those really difficult calls.Another rant and rave: were you severly disappointed in the poor officiating last night??
This is what instant replay can do in the future, but I fear that there is going to be a time where every single bang-bang play is going to be reviewed, McClouth's throw at home did beat him home, but the tag was clearly made before his feet touched the bag. No umpire is perfect,in fact no one's perfect and the reason why the umpires go by the ball beat him home is because most of the time he's out except for the sacrifice fly that scored Michael Young, that ball beat him to the plate but the tag was late. Young was clearly safe though Navarro on replay was out.
dude thats not bad for umpires there close plays and close calls.

It was a good game umprinig. 2 plays that could of gone either way.

the only way you notice if there was no tag by seond basemne was the replay fox did. and slow moiton.
And how many replays did you have to see before you realized the umps might have missed the call? You have to remember they have to make these calls in a split second and don't have the advanate of seeing it in slow motion from 5 different camera angles.
Can someone enlighten me on why people are so worked up about the All-Star Game? It is an exhibition played after 60 percent of the season to reward fan favorites and a few positive stories to make us al feel good.
Its unfortunate, yes, but it is part of the game and we must accept it. Both sides had their miscalls by the umps, and it sucks, but there is nothing that can be done about it unfortunately
the nl got a load of bad calls too and the home plates strike zone seemed about a foot wide
I disagree. I think the officiating was pretty good last night.
You have to cut the umps some slack. The umps r looking at this at real time...They dont have instant replay like we do here at home.
You forgot the NL side though, I think Pujols beat the tag too.
i thought the ump behind home was bad...he kept calling obvious balls strikes
HMM... NOPE
very true.we could have been outta there two hours earlie but no had to keep going
